Previous to his work in Chicago Public Schools, Joshua Johnson (he/him) served as an equity champion and instrumental music teacher in both Missouri and Illinois. Currently, he serves as an Equity Professional Learning Specialist in the Chief Equity Office of Chicago Public Schools.
In this role, Josh leads the design, facilitation, and coordination of professional learning essential to support district and school leaders in building capacity around the CPS Equity Framework in order to mitigate and close opportunity gaps for our students furthest from opportunity.
Josh holds a M.Ed. in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership with a dual concentration in Diversity & Equity in Education and Human Resource Development and a Bachelor in Music Education, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
